Tonight we’re going multi-international… taking Gramophone Armageddon live to artists in Spain, New York, Newcastle, Scotland and here in the Convent.
Bristol based Elles Bailey hasn’t been dubbed a ‘Blues Princess’ for no reason. This You Bristolian cuts right against the grain in so many ways, that’s probably why she’s such a rapidly rising star in the British music scene. Tonight she’s joined by her band Joe Wilkins and Zak Ranyard.
‘Prepare to be amazed at the sound of this girl’s voice’ Jodie Humphries, Live Music Scene.
‘Smokey blues-rock that fizzes with pop appeal’ Songwriting Magazine
Full of beans and known for entertaining and rousing enthusiastic audiences in song with his exciting live energy and countless contagious original songs, George plays piano, guitar and ukulele, live-sampling and looping his beatboxing and vocal harmonies with his dynamic original music.
‘Charismatic and talented pianist and songwriter… Daft Charming Original’ Tom Robinson, BBC 6Music
Kitty Macfarlane is a 22 year-old Somerset-based singer and songwriter. She writes songs that are charged with sense of place, shared human experience, driven by her own fingerpicked guitar.
‘Kitty Macfarlane – watch out for her. She’s good’ Mike Harding
Jack Carty writes his songs with an honesty and mindfulness learned through the sheltered valleys and close-knit communities of a rural childhood spent in sleepy Bellingen, NSW, Australia. It’s a rare thing that has allowed the poetic Brisbane-based traveller to take his quiet truths to audiences across Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand in the five years since his first release.
‘These songs have almost a purity of spirit and certainly an openness of heart’ Sydney Morning Herald
LIVE FROM SCOTLAND: Jack Henderson
Henderson has the travelled air of a Jack Kerouac: born in Scotland, brought up in Portsmouth and London before heading west. As well as performing his own material during his years in the States Henderson toured and recorded extensively with Americana band Over The Rhine, rootsy Canadian outfit Cowboy Junkies and shared stages with the likes of Buddy Miller, Sarah Mclachlan and Ron Sexsmith.
‘Henderson is a crooner and a rocker, a romantic and a raconteur singing dark, moody songs’ Maverick
